In many states, the government provides financial assistance for the birth of a daughter. This assistance often includes provision for girls’ education and marriage expenses.
The Government of Himachal Pradesh provides a financial incentive of Rs 2 lakh on the birth of one daughter and Rs 1 lakh each on the birth of two daughters. Similarly, the Uttarakhand government provides assistance of Rs 15,000 on the birth of a daughter.

The Rajasthan government has launched a scheme called Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana, in which Rs 50,000 is provided on the birth of a girl child. Uttar Pradesh also deposits Rs 50,000 into the account under the Bhagya Lakshmi scheme.
Haryana government provides financial assistance of Rs 21,000 on the birth of a girl child. Maharashtra has the Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme, in which Rs 50,000 is given on the birth of a girl child.
