The launch of PhonePe’s UPI service in the UAE is expected to reduce the need for international cards. Tourists traveling to UAE from India can now pay at Mashreq’s NeoPay terminals by scanning a QR code using their PhonePe app. Interestingly, users will also be able to view exchange rates in Indian Rupees and debit their accounts.

After launching its UPI service in the UAE, PhonePe plans to expand the transaction process to other regions as well. The company aims to use the UPI system for transactions and completely eliminate the need for bank account numbers and IFSC codes.
