The company is also developing a Gemini AI-based dedicated Personal Health Large Language Model (LLM) to deliver “on-demand personal coach.” However, the company emphasised that this technology is not intended to “diagnose, treat, mitigate, cure, or prevent any disease, injury, or condition.”

“Building on Google’s AI expertise, Fitbit Lab can help you derive meaningful and personalised insights by bringing together your multimodal time series health and wellness data,” said Florence Thng, Director of Product at Google.

As a part of this development, Google will introduce several AI features within the Fitbit app via Fitbit Labs, which gives early access to the upcoming AI features. By using AI to understand and analyse all the health-centric data collected by smartphones and wearables such as smartwatches, Google will offer detailed insights to users on their health and fitness.

Currently limited to Fitbit premium users, interested parties can sign up via the Fitbit Labs to access these features.

As a part of the upcoming release, the Fitbit app will gain new capabilities, which include the ability to ask questions based on the logged data, including sleep tracking, steps taken, heart rate, and more. Users can interact with the AI bot to help them get proper insight into the data in an easy-to-understand language. It can also generate charts using these data points in an easy-to-visualise format.

Users can ask questions like “Is there a linked pattern between my sleep habits and daily activity metrics?” and based on the data, the chatbot will come up with a personalised and summarised answer for the same. In the coming days, Google will allow more markers to be used by the AI to analyse and understand the health and fitness levels of the user, where, AI will be able to combine different biomarkers to get more meaningful insights.
