Google Meet's New ‘Take Notes For Me’ Feature: A Game Changer for Meetings

Struggling to keep up with note-taking during meetings? Google has introduced a game-changing solution with its new ‘Take Notes for Me’ feature, powered by AI. This tool is designed to automatically capture key points and important details from your meetings, allowing you to focus on the discussion without worrying about missing crucial information.

How It Works

The ‘Take Notes for Me’ feature operates on Google Meet and is available on computers and laptops. It’s designed to function seamlessly in English-language meetings. Here’s how you can make use of this feature:

Open Google Meet on your computer or laptop.
Select the meeting you are attending.
Click on the ‘Take notes with Gemini’ option located at the top right of your screen.

Once activated, this AI-powered feature will start capturing essential points and summaries of the meeting in real-time. If the meeting is recorded or transcribed, these recordings will be linked within the notes for a comprehensive record.

Accessing and Managing Notes

After the meeting concludes, the generated notes are neatly compiled and saved in a Google Docs document, which is automatically attached to the calendar event. The organizer or whoever enabled the feature will receive an email with a link to this document. Additionally, for those who join meetings late, Google Meet has a handy ‘summary so far’ feature. This allows latecomers to quickly catch up on what they missed.

Feature Availability and Setup

The ‘Take Notes for Me’ feature is part of Google Workspace and is accessible to users with specific add-ons:

Gemini Enterprise add-on
AI Meetings & Messaging add-ons
Gemini Education Premium add-on

This feature is enabled by default for administrators but can be managed at the organizational unit (OU) or group level. End users can also enable it in advance through their Calendar invite to ensure that notes are automatically captured. Google is gradually rolling out this feature, and it will be available to all Google Meet users within the next 15 days.
