Google Photos to Roll Out 'My Week' Feature: Enhancing Your Weekly Photo Experience

Google is gearing up to introduce a new feature called “My Week” in its Photos application, aiming to enhance user interaction and sharing capabilities. Here’s a breakdown of what this exciting new feature entails, based on recent reports and insights:

My Week Feature in Google Photos

Purpose and Functionality:

Weekly Memories Sharing: Similar to Instagram Stories, Google Photos’ My Week feature allows users to curate and share their favorite photos from the past week with friends and family.
Highlight Selection: Users can select photos they want to include in their weekly highlight reel through a setup wizard.
Invitations: Users can invite other Google Photos users to view their weekly memories, fostering social interaction and engagement around shared moments.

User Interface and Setup:

Tile in Memories Carousel: Once the feature is rolled out, a tile labeled “Introducing My Week” will appear in the top left corner of the Memories carousel. This tile will display the user’s avatar and a ‘+’ button.
Setup Wizard: Tapping on the tile opens a setup wizard that guides users through selecting photos and setting up their weekly memory highlight.

Usage and Interaction:

Dedicated Card in Memories: After setup, the shared weekly photos will appear on a dedicated card within the Memories carousel.
