Heatwave Alert: School Reopening in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana, Goa Postponed; Know When Physical Classes Will Resume

Heatwave Alert: As temperatures soar across the Indian subcontinent, a relentless heatwave grips the nation, bringing challenges and concerns for people and the environment. With scorching temperatures continuing to prevail across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana, and even Goa, educational authorities have adopted proactive measures to ensure the safety of students. In Tamil Nadu, the School Education Department has pushed back the reopening of schools from June 6 to June 10. Likewise, Puducherry has made a similar adjustment, with schools scheduled to reopen on June 12.

Schools to reopen on June 12 in Puducherry
With the hot spell continuing unabated, the territorial administration has postponed the date of reopening of all schools in Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam from June 6 to 12. As per news agency PTI report, Director of School Education P Priyadharshini said in a release that with the heat wave continuing unabated in Union Territory, all government-run schools, privately managed institutions and also schools aided by the government and those adopting CBSE syllabus would reopen on June 12 instead of June 6.
Haryana advances summer vacations, schools to remain shut from May 28 to June 30

The Haryana government has announced advancing summer vacations in state-run and private schools to Tuesday. As per an order issued by the Directorate of School Education on Monday, all schools in the state will observe summer holidays between Tuesday and June 30. Earlier, it had ordered the closure of schools from June 1 to 30. The adjoining Union Territory of Puducherry has already postponed the reopening of schools to June 12.
Telangana Schools

The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has declared that the summer break for all junior colleges in the state will conclude on May 31. The summer vacation for junior colleges statewide commenced on March 31.
Tamil Nadu Schools
Schools in Tamil Nadu will reopen on June 10 after their summer holidays, instead of June 6, the state School Education Department announced on Friday, news agency IANS reported. While the officials did not specify the reason for the postponement of the school reopening, the rising summer heat in many districts may have led to the department postponing the reopening date. Former Union Minister and Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) chief G.K. Vasan had called on the Tamil Nadu government to postpone the school reopening date, saying that many parts of the state were facing scorching heat and students must be protected from this.
