Heeramandi 2: Netizens Ask For Special Request to ‘Swap Sharmin Segal’s Character With…’
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s masterpiece, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, turned out to be a massive hit among the audience. The series, which is also SLB’s directorial debut on OTT, was adored by many. Each character in the series was loved by the audience, whether it was Manisha Koirala or Aditi Rao Hydari. However, Sharmin Segal, who plays the role of Alamzeb in the series, was massively criticised by the audience. As a result, social media chatter created a buzz, and now internet users have a special request for the maker of the series.
On Monday, fans were enthralled to learn that Heeramandi will have a season 2. Amid this excitement, fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their happiness at seeing Manisha Koirala as Mallikajaan, Sonakshi Sinha as Fareedan, Sanjeeda Sheikh as Waheeda, and Indresh Malik as Ustaad again. However, they also expressed that the series would feel incomplete without Aditi Rao Hydari as Bibbo Jann, especially considering season one’s climax. Moreover, the internet is unhappy with Sharmin Segal as Alamzeb and wants the maker to bring a new face to the character.
Take a look here:
In the comment section, several users asked SLB to retain Aditi’s character, while others requested that Sharmin be replaced. One social media user wrote, “Can we swap Sharmin’s character with Bibbojaan so that Aditi can be Alamzeb?” Another fan shared, “Won’t be the same without Aditi Rao Hydari, but will be at least better without Sharmin Segal.” Another comment read, “Petition to not cast Sharmin as Alamzeb.”
Apart from Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha and Taha Shah Badusha will also not be seen in Heeramandi 2. Meanwhile, Heeramandi was one of the most highly anticipated series of the year. Many people loved SLB’s direction, while others emphasized the factual inaccuracies. With the news of the series returning for season 2, fans are elated and waiting for more updates. Heeramandi was based on the life of courtesans in Lahore’s Heeramandi. The place used to be the hub for culture, art, and literature before the British era.
