HMD To Launch Nine New Smartphones, Reveals IMEI Database Listing
HMD Global, the company behind Nokia-branded phones, seems to be gearing up for a major shift with the launch of 11 smartphones, including 9 new smartphones listed on IMEI. This news follows the recent rebranding of the NokiaMobile account to HMD, hinting at a departure from the iconic Nokia brand.
Nine new devices spotted on IMEI Database
The latest development comes from the IMEI database, where nine new HMD-branded phones were spotted, adding to the two previously leaked devices. This brings the total number of upcoming HMD devices to 11. While the database doesn’t reveal specifications, it confirms the existence of these smartphones with model numbers TA-1584, TA-1588, TA-1589, TA-1592, TA-1594, TA-1595, TA-1602, TA-1605, and TA-1631.
Uncertain future for Nokia branding
The rebranding of the NokiaMobile account sparked speculation about the future of the Nokia name in smartphones. While HMD hasn’t officially confirmed anything, the focus on their own branding with these new devices suggests a potential move away from Nokia. Another recent report suggested that HMD would launch smartphones under its own brand alongside the Nokia branding. The latter would sell devices between the Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000 price range.
Can HMD recapture Nokia’s glory?
HMD’s goal, as their name “Human Mobile Devices” suggests, is to create accessible and useful mobile devices. However, they face the challenge of replicating the success and legacy associated with the Nokia brand. Only time will tell if they can achieve significant success with these new devices and potentially reclaim the “Nokia magic.”
