Holi Review: Gujiya worth Rs 28,830 ordered by one user; Swiggy, Blinkit record highest ever orders per minute on Holi

Holi is not only the festival of colours, but also of food and delicacies. As expected, with most of the markets shut on the day of Holi and with an increasing adoption of quick commerce platforms by consumers of today, platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, etc.

have registered record sales. These quick commerce platforms, in fact, recorded their highest-ever orders per minute during Choti Holi and Holi this year.

Phani Kishan, Co-founder & Head of Swiggy Instamart, took to X and said, “Happy Holi everyone! The celebration is off to a colorful start! @SwiggyInstamart hit our highest orders of 2024 on Choti Holi. It’s a privilege to be a minor part of the celebrations for millions of households – delivering joy & convenience.”

Meanwhile, Albinder Dhindsa, Co-founder & CEO, Blinkit, tweeted, “We hit our all time high orders, OPM (orders per minute), and almost every other metric on the board! Thank you for choosing us for your Holi needs.”

In another post on 24th March, Albinder Dhindsa had said, “We just hit highest ever OPM (Orders per minute) on Blinkit! And we’re on track to break our all time high orders record (Valentine’s day this year) today too! Happy Holi indeed.”
Among the most ordered products on Holi and a day before that were, gulal, water guns, balloons, colours, white tee-shirts, gujiya, thandai and other festive essentials.

Among the most interesting orders received by Swiggy was a gujiya order from a user in Lucknow who spent Rs 28,830 on gujiyas from the platform. Rohit Kapoor, CEO, Food Marketplace, Swiggy, posted on X, “A user from Lucknow went all out, spending a whopping INR 28,830 on Gujiyas from Swiggy for their Holi celebrations! Now, that’s an epic Holi party I wish I was part of!”

In another tweet, he said, “Swiggy has been buzzing with orders for Gujiya and Thandai since Friday! With a mouthwatering selection of 192 Gujiya and 242 thandai varieties across India, it’s a true #Holihai celebration!”

In another post, he said, “We know where the best Holi party in the country is still happening! A user from Gurgaon has ordered Holi essentials comprising water guns, pichkari and gulal worth INR 5202.”

Besides, gulal and pichkaris too were in high demand. Phani Kishan shared on X, “Almost every single @SwiggyInstamart order today on Instamart includes a packet of Gulal. 1 in 7 orders in Bangalore and 1 in 5 orders in Mumbai have a Pichkari.”

In another post, Phani Kishan said, “Phoolon-wali Holi alert! @SwiggyInstamart has already sold 5X more flowers this Holi compared to last year. Embracing eco-friendly celebrations and spreading joy with colourful blooms!”

On 24th March, Albinder Dhindsa had shared on X, “Gulal sales are through the roof! Basically – we’ve already delivered more Gulal today than we did same time last year. And will definitely cross the combined Gulal sales on Choti Holi the last 2 years. Crazy.”

Now in terms of the favourite colour for gulal, consumers are opting for yellow, red and green. Albinder Dhindsa posted, “The highest selling gulal colour today is yellow! Purely a coincidence but isn’t it the best colour out there anyway? Top 3 are yellow, red and green (in that order).” He further said that coconut oil sales too have increased on Holi.
