‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ explores the story of an unsung hero

Dharmatic Entertainment

We’ve seen so many movies and shows about freedom fighters that one might just feel there’s an overflow of content in the genre. However, every time a filmmaker and producer team up to tell stories that haven’t been told earlier, no matter good or bad, it counts for good storytelling. Ae Watan Mere Watan is exactly that, of course, not without its glitches.

The movie takes us back to the pre-independence era, and we are introduced to 22-year-old Usha (played by Sara Ali Khan), a college girl in Bombay, who is fighting for India’s freedom and in an attempt to help the same, she forms an underground radio station and fuel the fire of the Quit India movement. Her journey, however, is that of courage, sacrifice and a lot of resilience to stay put.
