Former US President Donald Trump’s troubles are continuously increasing. National Enquirer publisher David Pecker testified against the former US President. Pecker said he reached a confidential settlement in 2016 to use his tabloid to help Trump’s presidential bid. Pekar is the first witness in the criminal money laundering trial. Pekar told the New York court that in 2015 he had told Trump that the Enquirer would publish positive stories about him.
Helping Trump Cheating Voters
Pekar said he had asked an editor to keep the arrangement a secret. Pecker helped Trump suppress stories of alleged extramarital affairs in the 2016 election. Helping Trump, who is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, amounts to cheating the voters. Pecker has accused Trump of criminally falsifying business records to hide a $130,000 payment to porn star Daniels. However, lawyers argue that Trump did not commit any crime.
‘Given $130,000 to Stormy Daniels’
Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen paid Stormy Daniels $130,000. This is because Stormy Daniels must remain silent about her illicit relationship with Trump. In this case, Trump has denied relations with Daniels.
The prosecution made these allegations
Earlier, during the hearing, lawyer Matthew Colangelo said that Trump had hatched a criminal plan to commit corruption during the 2016 presidential election. This may be the only case of Trump’s four criminal cases to be heard before the presidential elections in America. If Trump is convicted in this case, his candidacy may be in danger. The former president called on his supporters to hold peaceful protests in courts across the country.
The demand for change of court was rejected by the court
Earlier in the case, the court had rejected a petition by Trump, in which he had demanded that the court be changed to hear the secret money case. Former President Trump’s lawyers had urged the court to postpone the trial, but Justice Lizabeth Gonzalez rejected their appeal.
