IND Vs BAN, T20 World Cup 2024 Warm-Up: Rishabh Pant Marks India Return After 16 Months With 32-Ball 53

New York: Rishabh Pant announced his return to India colours with a blazing fifty against Bangladesh in a warm-up tie in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday at the Nassau County Cricket International Stadium. Donning the national jersey after 16 long months and a 14-month injury break following a fatal car accident on the early hours of December 30, 2022, Pant smashed four fours and the same number of sixes in his 32-ball 53 before being retired out.
Coming in at No.3 after the dismissal of Sanju Samson, Pant took a little bit of time to settle down before opening his arms for a flurry of fours and sixes. He started with a boundary off Mahedi Hasan before unleashing his range of shots with three sixes in an over against Shakib Al Hasan.

The southpaw’s one-handed six against Mahmudullah Riyad in the ninth over made the 34000-odd crowd in the stadium go crazy. Although Pant lost his captain Rohit Sharma in the next over, the Delhi Capitals skipper kept on doing what he did the best.

He brought up his fifty with a boundary off Shakib and had a muted celebration as he pointed towards his partner, took off his helmet and walked back. While walking back, Pant was greeted with a standing ovation from a section of the crowd. In the end, India posted 182/5 in 20 overs, thanks to a late 23-ball 40 from Hardik Pandya.
