Indian-American Man From Gujarat Punched To Death In Oklahoma, Suspect Arrested, Reason Not Clear Yet
Oklahoma: In a shocking incident, a 59-year-old Indian-American man punched to death in Oklahoma and the incident was reported at nearly 10 PM on June 22, when the police were called to a motel parking lot near Interstate 40 and Meridian Avenue. Notably, the Indian American motel manager Hemant Mistry was punched by a stranger in a motel parking lot.
Reports suggest that the 59-year-old died in a local hospital following the officer’s response to the assault near I-40 and Meridian Avenue on Saturday.
Hemant Mistry who was a native from Gujarat, was punched by the accused, 41-year-old Richard Lewis, after the former had asked him to leave the property.
Giving details police said Hemant Mistry fell unconscious after he was punched and was taken to a hospital, where he died at nearly 7.40 PM on June 23.
Police said Lewis was later found at a hotel in the 1900 block of S Meridian Avenue and arrested. Lewis was arrested on a $100,000 bond at the Oklahoma County jail on an aggravated assault and battery complaint.
Oklahoma City police added that it was unclear why the suspect was asked to leave the property, but he wasn’t willing to exit.
