IPL 2024: Ashutosh Sharma’s Rapid Fifty, Featuring Jaw-Dropping Six Off Bumrah, Lights Up PBKS vs MI Encounter
PBKS batsman Ashutosh Sharma played a heroic innings of 61 off just 28 balls against MI in the Indian Premier League on Thursday, April 18. Batting at the Mullanpur Stadium, Ashutosh gave PBKS hope, even as the team lost their entire top order for just 14 runs. Ashutosh was forced out early in the game and displayed some brilliant shots in his innings. The right-hander scored a quick fifty off 23 balls, his first in the IPL. The highlight of the innings was his brilliant sweep against Jasprit Bumrah which he deposited through the leg side for a six.
Ashutosh added a quick 34 off 17 balls with Shashank Singh and provided PBKS with a much-needed boost. After Shashank’s dismissal in the 13th over of the game, it was all Ashutosh Sharma as he managed to dominate the MI bowling order in the latter half of the innings. At one point it looked like Ashutosh would end the game, but Gerald Coetzee trapped him with a short ball at mid-wicket. That day, Ashutosh lit up the Mullanpur Stadium with 7 sixes and 2 boundaries in his 28-ball innings. Despite Ashutosh’s best efforts, PBKS fell short by 9 runs in the second innings, being bowled out for 183 in 19.1 overs.

MI SNATCH 3RD WN
Despite heroics from Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh, a brilliant innings from Suryakumar Yadav and a good spell of bowling from Jasprit Bumrah gave Hardik Pandya his third win as MI skipper in Mullanpur. Suryakumar scored 78 runs while Bumrah took 3 wickets as MI eventually won the match by 9 runs after Ashutosh’s brave innings went in vain.
