IPL 2024: Lightning-Quick Klaasen Stumps Dhawan On Bhuvneshwar’s 140 Kmph Snorter
In a thrilling encounter between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), Heinrich Klaasen’s brilliant stumping of Shikhar Dhawan became a pivotal moment as SRH secured a narrow 2-run victory at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. The crucial dismissal occurred in the fifth over of the PBKS innings, bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Dhawan, attempting to take on the bowling, stepped down the track, only to miss the delivery completely. Klaasen, displaying exceptional reflexes, swiftly collected the ball and dislodged the bails in a flash, sending Dhawan back to the pavilion.
PBKS’ Struggle in Chase
Chasing a target of 183 runs, PBKS got off to a shaky start, losing wickets at regular intervals during the powerplay. Their batters seemed to be in a hurry, resulting in some questionable shot selections and a dismal powerplay score, the lowest in the season so far. Amidst the early collapse, Sikandar Raza and Sam Curran provided some resistance, stitching together a crucial partnership of 38 runs. However, Curran’s dismissal after playing a few aggressive shots halted their momentum.

Late Surge by PBKS
Despite the setbacks, PBKS fought back with determination, thanks to notable contributions from players like Jitesh Sharma, Ashutosh Sharma, and Shashank Singh. Ashutosh’s quickfire 33 off 15 balls and Shashank’s aggressive 46 off 25 deliveries almost propelled PBKS to a thrilling victory. With 29 runs required off the last over, PBKS needed a miraculous finish to secure the win. However, despite their valiant effort, they fell short by a couple of runs, as SRH held their nerve to clinch a nail-biting victory.
