IPL 2024: Mohit Sharma Registers ‘Worst Bowling Figures’ Ever Seen in the Tournament

Mohit Sharma conceded 73 runs in his four overs, the worst in the Indian Premier League (IPL), during the match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday. Shubman Gill kept faith with his opening bowlers and Sandeep Warrier dismissed both the Delhi openers in his second over and then took the third wicket as well. However, the spin duo of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed could not quite control the middle stages.

Gill perhaps missed a trick by not trusting Warrior for the 19th over and instead threw Sai Kishor into the line of fire as he had not bowled a single ball before this game. Pant and Axar Patel put on a blistering century stand en route to quick individual half-centuries to take Delhi Capitals to 224/4 against Gujarat Titans. After Pant and Akshar put on 44 for 3 in 6 overs with DC batting in reverse, they scored 113 off just 68 balls for the fourth wicket.

With three wickets down, Pant and Akshar initially played sensibly and tried to build a partnership but once they were set up, they unleashed their brutal attack. Pant started slowly but gained confidence over time and unleashed his trademark pick-up shots of legs, cuts and pulls to score his runs. While Pant looked in full flow after finding his groove, Akshar played second fiddle but didn’t hold back in sending the bad ball to the fence. While Pant led from the front, unbeaten on 88 off 43 balls (5X4s, 8X6s), Akshar scored 66 off 43 balls with five fours and four sixes.
