IPL 2024: PBKS Players Indulge in Mishti Doi Delight After Victory Over KKR at Eden Gardens
PBKS players enjoyed Kolkata’s famous Mishti Doi after hammering KKR at the Eden Garden Stadium on Friday, April 26. It was a perfect and sweet ending for PBKS, who snapped their 4-match losing streak to record their 3rd win of the season. In a mega-run-fest, PBKS successfully chased down 262 runs against KKR with 8 balls to spare.
The franchise’s official social media handle shared a special video, which gives a glimpse of the atmosphere in the dressing room after the emphatic win. The dressing room was in a chill mood with the iconic ‘Jatt Don’t Care’ song playing in the background. PBKS players have been fond of this Punjabi song since last year and the tradition continued this year as well. How the players celebrated the win caught everyone’s attention. Punjab fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was seen enjoying a Bengali sweet dish called Mishti Doi. The bowler seemed to be enjoying the mishti doi as Jeet was as sweet as the dish. Meanwhile, there was an extensive buffet of other dishes as well, but what better way to celebrate than eating the dishes, the state of the franchise is famous for.

One record after another was broken in the historic run chase at Eden Gardens. A total of 523 runs were scored in the match with a record 42 sixes, the most in a T20 match. Batting first, KKR openers, Sunil Narine (71) and Phil Salt (75) put on a 138-run opening partnership. In the opening attack, Shreyas Iyer’s quickfire knock of 28 off 10 balls and Russell contributed 24 off 14 balls.
Chasing a target of 262, PBKS went ballistic from the word go as 93 runs were scored in the Powerplay itself. After Prabhasimran Singh departed with 54 off just 24 balls, Jonny Bairstow, who has been out of touch this season, led the team and made a brilliant comeback. Bairstow was joined by Punjab’s find of the season, Shashank Singh, as KKR’s bowlers, barring Sunil Narine, looked haphazard. Bairstow’s emphatic century propelled Punjab to win the match as he recorded the most successful chase ever in the history of T20 cricket and IPL.
