In a mid-table clash in IPL 2024, Punjab will host Hyderabad at the newly-built Maharaja Yadavinder International Stadium in Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 9. Both teams have had similar starts this season, winning two and losing two. Four matches. They will look to continue their winning streak at the new stadium when they host SRH.

Both SRH and PBKS have four points on the table and are placed fifth and sixth respectively. SRH is above PBKS in the points table due to superior net run-rate.

The two sides have faced each other 21 times in the IPL with the Hyderabad-based franchise coming out on top 14 times and Punjab winning seven. However, their last five matches have been more evenly contested, with SRH winning three and PBKS winning two.

Team news

The availability of hard-hitting all-rounder Liam Livingstone will be crucial going into their match against SRH at home. The Englishman missed their match against GT due to injury and was replaced by Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who failed to impress with both bat and ball. Livingstone trained with the Punjab squad this week and could be in contention against SRH.

As for SRH, there will be doubts over the fitness of Mayank Agarwal after he missed their previous match due to illness. He also trained on Tuesday and could play against Punjab on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see if SRH opts for Mayank or Rahul Tripathi when they take on PBKS.

Pitch and conditions

On the Mullanpur pitch, PBKS chased down 175 runs in the only IPL match played at the venue. It was the spinners who fared better than the pacers with Harpreet Brar taking wickets while bowling at an economy of 4.67 and Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel being the most economical bowlers for Delhi.
