IPL 2024: Sanju Samson Backs Confident Yashasvi Jaiswal Ahead of RR vs MI Clash
RR skipper Sanju Samson has claimed that Yashaswi Jaiswal doesn’t need anyone’s advice after his return to form against MI on Monday, April 22. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 104 runs as he put the sticky patch behind him in the IPL 2024 season. With T20 World Cup selection looming, Jaiswal has returned to form at the right time and Samson was asked who had put the youngster back into form after scoring just 121 runs in his previous 7 knocks. The RR skipper said that Jaiswal is a confident player and for him it was all about the game.
“I don’t think he needs anyone’s (Jaiswal’s) advice. He is very confident. One game was all about,” Samson said.
Where did RR win the game against MI?
Samson praised all the players for the win against MI as they started the powerplay well with the ball. The RR skipper said Tilak Verma and Nehal Vadera played well against RR’s spinners but felt they won the game at the backend when Trent Boult, Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma pulled things back for them. “Credit to all the players. Had a good start in the powerplay. In the middle, the left-handers played unbelievable. But the way we came back was where we won the game. The wicket looked a bit dry. But when the lights come on. In, as the night gets colder, it becomes better to bat in the second innings,” said Samson. Sandeep took 5-wickets in his first innings to restrict MI to 179 and set up the match for Jaiswal. With the win, RR extended their lead at the top to 14 points, the closest they have come to making the playoffs this season.
RR will now take on LSG in their next match in Lucknow on April 27.
