Kane Williamson’s Contribution
Replacing the injured David Miller, Kane Williamson made an immediate impact with his fluent stroke-making. The New Zealand batsman looked in sublime touch as he dispatched Sam Curran and Rabada for boundaries, keeping GT’s scoreboard ticking. However, his promising innings was cut short by Brar’s extra bounce, resulting in a catch at backward point by Jonny Bairstow. Undeterred by the loss of partners, Shubman Gill continued to lead from the front. Alongside new batsman Sudharsan, Gill orchestrated a 14-run over, showcasing his ability to control the game’s momentum. Gill’s fifty, which came off just 31 balls, was a testament to his class and composure under pressure.
