IPL 2024: Siraj Requires Rest, Says IND Spin Legend; Shows Concern Over His Fatigue
India’s star fast bowler Mohammad Siraj is under the pump in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The right-arm pacer has managed to take just 4 wickets in 6 matches, remaining wicketless in three matches and conceding 191 runs. His ongoing form not only raises a big question mark over his selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 but also adds to Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) bowling woes in the current season.
Siraj’s current performances have raised many eyebrows and former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh believes the fast bowler needs a rest. Speaking to media, the veteran cricketer said that Siraj has been a star player for the country and its IPL franchise but the constant playing seems to have taken its toll on the pacer’s body and mind.
“He has been a champion bowler for Team India and has done well for RCB as well. But I think he is not doing what he needs to do, he needs rest, not only mentally but also physically because he is playing a lot of cricket. He has played four Tests against England, before that he has been a part of the team in every series India has played. And he bowls a lot of overs. So, for me, he looks a bit tired physically and mentally,” Harbhajan said.
“And with that kind of hammering, it’s difficult for any bowler to wake up the next day and feel good. I also went through situations where I was beaten by different batsmen, you have to give yourself some time to relax, think about your game and work hard at the nets, work on your game and as we saw Siraj Will bounce back strongly. And I am sure he will come back strong,” he added. Royal Challengers Bangalore are 9th on the points table with just one win from 6 matches. Despite tasting victory earlier in the season, against PBKS, they failed to keep up the momentum and suffered 4 defeats on the trot.
