IPL 2024: Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Spectacular Comeback, Unbeaten 104 Powers RR to Victory Over MI
All doubts about Yashaswi Jaiswal’s poor form in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League have been dispelled as he returned to shut down his critics with a scintillating century against Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Although rain interrupted play in the second innings, it did not deter the young left-hander as he was finally able to make the most of his good start with the bat.
Along with Jos Buttler, the duo sent the Royals well ahead by the same score as Duckworth-Lewis when rain interrupted play following a batting powerplay. After a steady start in the first three overs, Jaiswal finally loosened up as he aggressively went after Gerald Coetzee, hitting him for a six off the first ball and following it up with a consistent boundary to close the over. The youngster was also able to take on the likes of Jasprit Bumrah as he also won towards cover for a boundary, signaling his intention to show no mercy to the bowlers no matter how big their presence. Even the spinners did not challenge the opening batsman as he regularly attacked Mohammad Nabi for boundaries. He took the win by chasing from the start to put RR on pole position.
THAT 💯 moment! ☺️
Jaipur is treated with a Jaiswal special! 💗

It was in the ninth over that Jaiswal managed to score his half-century and made it his highest score for the season. Despite Jos Buttler being dismissed by Piyush Chawla, he was focused on taking the team home as he put on 109 off just 65 balls to complete MI’s double. Neither bowler posed much of a threat as he appeared in a zone where he looked unstoppable.
This is the second time the young player has scored a century in IPL. His first also came against MI during a match played at the Wankhede Stadium last year. Jaiswal hung on till the very end as he scored the winning runs as he finished with 104 off 60 balls as he continues to score big runs be it in the IPL or the national team.
