Iran’s Shia army! This is how a circle of enemies was created around Israel in the Middle East.
Iran has warned Israel. This warning was given on Monday after the attack which was carried out on a building near the Iranian Embassy in Syria. Due to this, the embassy building was destroyed and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, General Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Rahimi were killed. Immediately after the attack, President Ibrahim Raisi announced revenge. He said that this is a cowardly attack which will be responded to.
Many meanings are being made out of this statement of Raisi, but how will this revenge be taken? It is not clear. In recent years, Iran has emerged as a major power in the Middle East. To gradually tighten the noose on Israel, Iran has also created its own Shia army which is spread all around Israel. Iran is also believed to be behind Hamas’ conflict with Israel. Many countries of the world believe that Iran is doing the work of training Palestinians to fight Israel.
It is said that before the attack on Israel, a meeting was held in Beirut, in which Hezbollah, Hamas and two fundamentalist groups supported by Iran were involved. Later another statement came that the attack was carried out to avenge the assassination of Quds Force chief General Qasim Sulemani in 2020. Although Iran never confirmed this. At the end of last year, Hezbollah Secretary General Nasrallah had clearly stated that Iran was not involved in the attack, but he also did not fail to say that Iran could confront Israel and its allies without starting the Third World War. In reality, Hamas and Hezbollah are a part of Iran’s Shia army which it has united in the Middle East.
Iran has created the world’s most successful alliance, which is capable of challenging global powers. It begins with Hezbollah. It began in the 1960s when a movement was formed whose purpose was to reassert the core tenets of Islam. The first Imam was Musa al-Sadr. In 1967, he created the Supreme Islamic Shia Council (SISC), a religious body that supported the Shia community. Al-Sadr continued political activities and formed a military group to fight Israel. It was named the Lebanese Resistance Regiment. When Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982, Hezbollah grew rapidly. It became an Islamic organization that united all Shia groups.
Tehran’s support
Sheikh Naim Qasim, one of the main leaders of the movement, has mentioned this in his book ‘Hezbollah: The Story from Within’. It is written that Lebanese leaders had the support of Tehran from the beginning. It is even said that a team of military officers from Tehran had gone to train in the training camps that were going on in the Bekaa region of Lebanon. Hezbollah was later allowed to become an official political force representing the interests of a large portion of the population. Hezbollah has become very strong today, has more than 1 lakh fighters and also has ballistic missiles with a range of 500 to 700 km. Iran also funds millions of dollars every year and Hezbollah takes an active part in the Palestinian conflict. Till now, Hezbollah has conducted several military operations on the Israeli border and caused heavy losses.
Iraq and Syria
On one side of Israel is Iraq, it was once at war with Iran, and thousands of people sacrificed their lives, but both countries are considered centres of Shia Islam, but now almost everything is fine. An example of this is the situation after the attack on Israel. In fact, after the war between Israel and Hamas, American targets in Iraq and Syria were attacked approximately 58 times. Tehran’s support is visible in these attacks.
Iran’s grip on Iraq increased
Popular Mobilization Forces i.e. Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi. It is the largest paramilitary group in Iran. It was formed when Mosul was captured by IS in 2014. It had become clear that the Iraqi army was not capable of dealing with them, because 1500 terrorists had routed the entire country’s army. After this, the Ayatollah of Iraq issued a fatwa in which the people of the country were called upon to take up arms. This reduced the fighting between Shia and Sunni in Iraq and increased Iran’s influence on Iraq. Fighters of the Popular Mobilization Forces received assistance from the Quds Forces of the IRGC under the leadership of Iranian General Qasim Suleimani. This strengthened PMF’s relations with Tehran.
Apart from this, the Badr Organization was also under the influence of Iran, which helped Iran in fighting against Saddam Hussein. There are guerrilla fighters in this organization, this organization was accused of attacking the US Embassy in 2019. The third organization is Kata’ib Hezbollah, it has more than 30 thousand fighters, it also openly supports Iran. Apart from this, Imam Ali Brigades, Harakat Hezbollah, Saraya Al Khorasani
Iran’s influence in Syria too
Like Iraq, Iran also influences Syria. During the war, Iran had formed many paramilitary groups in Syria. These include the Al-Abbas Brigade which is closely linked to the Syrian Republican Guard. According to a report by RT, the brigade has been divided into small groups, which are named after 12 Shia Imams. Tehran has also recruited Afghans to protect the interests of Syria and the Syrian government. Syria’s Fatemiyoun Brigade is also continuously getting stronger. This brigade has 10 to 20 thousand fighters. Now this brigade is not active, but if needed, it can come to support Iran.
Yemen’s Houthis
Yemen’s Houthis are continuously challenging America, Israel and Saudi Arabia. This organization stood up for the Palestinians. Houthi is also called the representative of Iran. It is believed that Iran is the one providing weapons to Houthi. However, this could not be confirmed. Now Iraq has become a new force against Israel in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.
