ISL 2023-24: East Bengal to miss Carles Cuadrat on sidelines in Odisha clash, Defender will also Miss!

East Bengal are set to miss head coach Carles Cuadrat on the sidelines in their upcoming ISL clash against Odisha FC on Wednesday (February 28).

The Red and Gold brigade secured a crucial victory against Chennaiyin FC in the last ISL match and will be hoping to continue their winning run against the Kalinga Warriors. But there will be a significant miss for them as head coach Carles Cuadrat won’t be available on the sidelines.

Carles Cuadrat received his 2nd yellow card of the season in the match against Chennaiyin on Monday. At the flag end of the first half, a poor tackle on an East Bengal player went unpunished and Cuadrat protested to that, thus earning himself a caution from the referee.

Due to his 2nd offence this season, now the East Bengal coach will have to sit in the stands for the Odisha tie, which will shape up East Bengal’s ISL campaign this time. The Spaniard will take confidence from their previous visit to the Kalinga Stadium, where they won the Kalinga Super Cup final against Odisha FC a month ago.

It is unclear who will take charge of the Kolkata giants in Bhubaneswar in the dug-out, with assistant coach Dimas Delgado poised to take up the role.

Along with Cuadrat, East Bengal defender Hijazi Maher is set to be ruled out as well. The Jordanian defender received his fourth Yellow Card of the season, which means he has to sit out for the Odisha clash. Serbian defender Aleksandar Pantic is likely to replace Maher in Bhubaneswar.
