Israel-Hamas War: Humanitarian Airdrop Crashes Into Crowd, Kills Five After Parachute Fails To Deploy

At least five people were killed and several others were injured after a humanitarian airdrop’s parachute failed to open, causing a pallet to crash into a group of civilians who had queud up for food near Shati refugee camp in war-torn Gaza on Friday, as per news reports.

The Gaza government media office acknowledged the number of injuries, denouncing the “useless” airdrops as “flashy propaganda rather than humanitarian service” and advocating for the availability of food to pass through land borders.

“We previously warned it poses a threat to the lives of citizens in the Gaza Strip and this is what happened today when the parcels fell on the citizens’ heads,” it said in a statement. Following the incident, the US refuted media reports that the incident was caused by its humanitarian airdrops. “We are aware of reports of civilians killed in Gaza as a result oif humanitarian airdrops. This was not the result of US airdrops,” the US Central Command said in a statement.
