In a video shared by the actress, she can be heard saying that the censor board has been receiving death threats due to some scenes featured in the film. The actress said, “There are certain rumors that my film Emergency has been cleared by the censor board, but that’s not true. In fact, our film was initially cleared, but the certification has been put on hold as the censor board is receiving death threats.”
She further said, “There is pressure being put on us to remove certain scenes, such as the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the Punjab riots, and more. Now, I don’t know what else to show. What are we supposed to do—black out the film during these scenes? This is unbelievable to me, and I am deeply sorry for the current state of thinking in this country.”
Controversy has erupted as Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency faces potential bans, particularly in Telangana. A delegation of 18 members from the Telangana Sikh Society, led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon, has called for the ban, accusing the movie of depicting the Sikh community as terrorists and anti-nationals.
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has also assured the Sikh community that they are considering banning Kangana’s film. The movie has already created a massive uproar among the Sikh community due to some specific scenes shown in the trailer.
