Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand Likely To Receive Snowfall; Rain Expected In Delhi, UP, Bihar As Cold Wave Continues | Check Forecast

The national capital witnessed a drop in temperature due to rain and icy winds over the past few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted rain throughout the day on Sunday, followed by fog on Monday and Tuesday.

 

The snowfall in the Himalayan region also affected Himachal Pradesh, where a yellow alert was issued for several districts. The alert warned of storms and heavy snowfall in the region. Meanwhile, Kashmir valley and parts of Uttarakhand also witnessed snowfall on Saturday.

Other parts of the country experienced light rain, such as Sikkim, Northeast India, Coastal Odisha and western Rajasthan. The weather department said that the rainfall was due to a western disturbance and a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. Meanwhile, 52 districts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to experience light to moderate rain for the next two days due to a western disturbance near southwestern Rajasthan.

Delhi Weather Updates

Delhi and its nearby areas received light rain and gusty winds on Sunday morning, as a result of an active Western Disturbance. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for the city and predicted cloudy skies and more showers throughout the day.

The wind speed was expected to range from 25 to 35 kilometers per hour, according to the IMD. The maximum and minimum temperatures were likely to be 19 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively. The met department also forecast moderate to dense fog for the next two days.

Uttar Pradesh Weather Updates

The IMD issued a rain alert for 52 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including the capital Lucknow, for Sunday and Monday. The department has also warned of possible thunderstorms and hailstorms in the state, accompanied by strong winds.

J-K Weather Updates

Kashmir Valley was covered in white on Sunday as moderate to heavy snowfall occurred in most parts of the region. The snowfall, which broke the long dry spell and increased the water level in various water bodies, brought relief to the people. Srinagar city recorded around 4 to 5 inches of snow on the ground, while higher reaches like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Pir Ki Gali, Gurez, Karnah, Daksum and Doodhpathri received heavy snowfall in the last 12 hours.
