Kylian Mbappe has reportedly told PSG president Nasser Al Khelafi that he has made up his mind about future endeavours. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the World Cup winner with France will leave PSG as a free agent.
“Kylian Mbappé has now informed PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi that he will LEAVE the club as free agent. The terms of the departure are yet to be fully agreed but he will LEAVE Paris in the summer – Kylian has yet to fulfil his commitments to the club,” Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Mbappe’s wages cost PSG €200m (£171m) per year. With the hefty sum finally unloaded the Ligue 1 giants could go ahead with their plans to make multiple signings this summer. The forward, who won the World Cup in 2018, joined PSG from Monaco in August 2017 and has helped them win five Ligue 1 titles. The 25-year-old has scored 20 goals in the league this season as PSG pursue their third title in a row.PSG, who lead the standings by 11 points, host Nice on Friday.
Mbappe has been linked to the Spanish giants Real Madrid for some time now. However, reports earlier this week suggested that the French forward’s camp was unimpressed by a fresh package set forth by Los Blancos. Mbappe was unable to say yes to the La Liga side as “influential members” of his “entourage have been left unconvinced” after going through Real Madrid’s latest offer, The Athletic said in a report on Tuesday.
The report stated quoting sources that the said contract, if accepted by Mbappe, would make him the costliest star in the current Los Blacos squad by far. However, it is less than what the club offered him in 2022. The previous negotiations resulted in Real making a $140 million bid to poach him from PSG. The Frenchman is currently earning $80.8 million net before bonuses at PSG, and The Athletic notes that Real Madrid cannot match the same.
