Lok Sabha to Discuss Ram Temple Consecration on the Last Day of Parliament Session
The Lok Sabha will have a discussion on the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on Saturday, February 10, the last day of the Budget session of parliament.
The discussion on the construction of the Ram Temple and Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ramlala will be initiated by senior BJP leader Satyapal Singh, according to a Lok Sabha Secretariat bulletin. Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde too has given a notice for a discussion on the issue.
The Budget session of parliament, the last of the 17th Lok Sabha, began on January 31 and will conclude on Saturday.
The Ram Temple in Ayodhya was consecrated on January 22 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a state event. The Opposition skipped the event calling it ‘political’ due to the involvement of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Critics of the Modi government described it as an ‘assault’ on the secular and democratic foundations of India.
By taking it up as a discussion in Lok Sabha on the last date of the 17th Lok Sabha before the General Election, the BJP aims to extend the political life of the issue. Prime Minister Modi is expected to be showered with praise during the discussion.
