Purnima Tithi holds special significance in Sanatan Dharma. The importance of taking a holy bath in pilgrimage places and holy rivers on the day of Magha Purnima is considered very auspicious. Taking a bath on this day helps one become free from all their sins and enables them to attain more virtues. When is Magha Purnima 2024?
According to the Hindu calendar, the full moon date of Magha month starts at 3:36 PM on 23rd February, i.e., today, and will be ending at 6:34 PM on 24th February, Saturday. Therefore, in such a situation, Magha Purnima will be celebrated on 24th February 2024 based on Udaya Tithi.

However, according to some pundits, the fast of Magha Purnima will be observed on Friday, 23rd February, i.e., today. There is a tradition of worshipping the moon during the Magha Purnima fast. However, moonrise is not happening on the full moon date of 24th February; hence, Chandradev will be worshipped by observing Magha Purnima fast today itself. At some places, Magha Purnima will be celebrated tomorrow on Saturday.
