Malawi Vice President Saulos Chilima Killed In Plane Crash, Was Reported Missing On Sunday

Saulos Chilima: Malawi Vice President Saulos Chilima and 9 others have died in a plane crash. This comes after a massive search operation was launched when the Malawi Defence Force aircraft “went off the radar”.
“The aircraft was found this morning in the Chikangawa forest. Unfortunately, all on board have perished in the crash,” Malawi said in a press release.
To recall, a military plane carrying Malawi’s vice president Saulos Chilima was reported missing after it failed to make a landing on Monday, 10 June 2024 morning.
Vice-President Saulos Chilima, along with nine others, was reported missing on Monday, and a search operation was, according to the president’s office. The aircraft transporting Vice President Chilima departed from the capital, Lilongwe, but did not arrive as scheduled at Mzuzu International Airport, located approximately 370 kilometers to the north, about 45 minutes later.
Aviation authorities lost contact with the plane when it “went off radar,” the statement from Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera’s office said.
