Man dies after eating butter chicken that he had eaten many times before; find out what happened
Butter chicken might be unhealthy but it is still one of the most popular curries in the world. With approximately 800 calories in one plate, it is not weight loss-friendly.
But one can barely associate this culinary wonder with death. In a tragic incident, Joseph Higginson, 27, from Bury, lost his life after eating butter chicken, and all because of a nut allergy. Turns out, the curry contained almonds and only after a single mouthful of it, he passed away. The 27-year-old mechanic was told by an allergist that he was allergic to coconuts, almonds, peanuts, and tree nuts. However, Higginson never took it seriously.
What is an allergy?
An allergy refers to a condition wherein the immune system reacts to a foreign substance such as pollen or a food that does not usually cause a reaction in most people. In this case, the body starts to produce substances known as antibodies. Some of the most common types of allergies are nut allergy and pollen allergy. It can result in a deadly anaphylaxis, a reaction wherein the body’s immune system overreacts and results in debilitating symptoms, such as:

- Fast heart rate
- Clammy skin
- Lightheadedness

Doctors say that some patients may also have a swollen, raised, and itchy rash.
