Maruti sells more cars than Tata, Hyundai & Mahindra combined in February

Maruti’s domestic PV volume stood at 160,271 units during the month. In comparison, Tata (51,267 units), Hyundai (50,201 units) and Mahindra (42,401 units) together sold 143,869 units.

The Baleno-maker registered a growth of 9% year-on-year (y-o-y) in domestic PV volume in February.

The compact segment, which includes models like the Celerio, WagonR, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, Dzire and Tour S, was the largest contributor at 71,627 units, followed by the utility vehicle segment (Fronx, Brezza, Jimny, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, XL6 and Invicto) at 61,234 units.

The mini segment (Alto K10 and S-Presso) was the next at 14,782 units. Then came the van segment, having the Eeco, at 12,147 units. The mid-size segment, offering the Ciaz, could garner wholesales of merely 481 units.

For FY24 (April-February), Maruti’s domestic PV volume came in at 1,607,163 units, which is higher than the wholesales registered by the company in the entire FY23 at 1,606,870 units.

During a select media briefing, Maruti’s Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales, Shashank Srivastava, said that Nexa is currently the fastest-growing brand having crossed the 500,000 units mark during FY24 with a growth of 52%.
