Maruti Suzuki Cuts Prices: India’s largest car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has announced to cut the prices of nine variants in its lineup. These variants include Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon-R, Swift, DZire, Baleno, Fronx, and Ignis.
The company shared the information in its exchange filing on Saturday, June 1.
Details Of Price Cut
According to Maruti Suzuki, the price of Auto Gear Shift (AGS) variants of 9 models has been reduced by Rs 5000. These new prices have come into effect from June 1, 2024. The company has not yet given information about the reasons for reducing the prices of these variants. The sources in the know have indicated that the auto giant is looking to boost the sales of its lineup by making its AGS variant more affordable.
“The Company today announced a reduction in prices of its AGS (Auto Gear Shift) variants across its models. The company has reduced the prices by Rs 5000 across various models,” MSI informed the exchanges.
Increased Price In April
In April 2024, the company increased the prices of selected Swift and Grand Vitara variants. The prices of Swift were increased by up to Rs 25,000, while the Sigma variant of Grand Vitara was increased by Rs 19,000. Earlier, the company had increased the prices of all its models by 0.45% in January 2024. The company attributed this to inflationary pressure and increased input costs.
Maruti’s Auto Gear Shift Transmission Technology
Auto Gear Shift (AGS) is an automatic gearshifting transmission technology introduced by Maruti Suzuki in 2014. It offers the benefits of both manual and automatic transmissions.
This self-drive transmission is equipped with an intelligent gear shift control actuator which is operated from the electronic controller unit.
This system controls the gear and clutch without the driver’s control. This makes gear shifts smoother, which increases driving performance and fuel efficiency.
Transmission Unit
The components are mounted in the car’s transmission unit, ensuring synchronised clutch control and smoother gear shifts. This helps AGS deliver improved performance and enhanced fuel efficiency.
As mentioned above, the purpose behind cutting the prices is to attract potential AGS model buyers and increase sales.
