Meet actress who claimed to be better than an actress worth 650 crores, never gave a solo hit, her debut film was superflop, she is now…
Isha Koppikar, who turned heads with her remarkable performances in movies like Krishna Cottage, Kyaa Kool Hain Hum, Don, and others, has been in the headlines for a while now. While the actress recently opened up about her divorce, she also reflected on her experience in Shah Rukh Khan’s famous film Don. The actress shared that she felt hurt when she was not a part of Don 2.
During an interview with Galatta India, Isha revealed how she landed her role in Don. She said that it was Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar who were deeply impressed with her performance in D, where she played the role of Chunky Panday’s wife. The actress recalled receiving a call from Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, who were moved by her emotional portrayal.
“Shabana ji and Javed saab called me after my performance in D, where I played Chunky Panday’s wife, and I am held by the gangsters while he is murdered in front of me. I am crying and howling to save my husband. They called me, and my trophy for that was Don,” the actress said.
While Don featured Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Rampal, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, and Isha Koppikar, in Don 2, only SRK, Priyanka, and Boman were retained.
Isha Koppikar Said She Could Have Done Better Than Priyanka Chopra in Don
In her conversation with the portal, Isha Koppikar mentioned that Priyanka Chopra’s character in the film was far more powerful than hers. Meanwhile, Priyanka is one of the most celebrated actors in the industry and even in Hollywood. Her net worth is reportedly Rs 650 crore,
She said, “I feel Priyanka’s role was more powerful than mine. I would have given my left and right arm for it. I am a black belt in Taekwondo. I have been learning Taekwondo for 25 years now, so I know I am fantastic at action, and I can give any heroine a run for their money as far as action is concerned, even if they are half my age. I know I am good at it, but what’s done is done.”
Looking back, Isha admitted that she felt sad and hurt when she was not cast in Don 2, which was released in 2011. The actress revealed that she received a call only to be informed that the casting for the film had been finalized. “It’s okay, you win some, you lose some,” she said.
In the same interview, Isha revealed that she auditioned for the role played by Sonali Kulkarni in Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai. She said that although she got confirmation for the project, by then, she had already locked dates for other projects. Isha Koppikar never gave a solo hit. Isha Koppikar’s acting career began with the 1997 Telugu film W/o V. Vara Prasad which turned out to be a disappointment on the box office.
