Meet actress who gave no hits in 9 years, delivered 19 flops in a row, got married, quit acting, she is now…
Star kids may have easier entry into the entertainment industry, but they often face relentless comparisons and struggle to sustain their stardom. One such actress, who comes from a family of Bollywood superstars, is Esha Deol. Her brothers, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol are also renowned actors and have impressed audiences with their performances over the years. She began her career with six flops, achieved just two hits, and then left the film industry.
Daughter of legends Hema Malini and Dharmendra, Esha Deol revealed that her superstar ‘orthodox’ father didn’t want her to join films but rather get her married at the age of 18. She also recalled that how her grandmother didn’t allow her wear to a skirt in the house. In a conversation with Hauterrfly, Esha Deol said “My father didn’t want I should enter the movies. He is a bit orthodox, rightfully so.. He is a Punjabi father, and he wanted that we should get married, and settle down at 18. That is his conditioning, he is coming from a place where all the women in his house were brought up that way. But my upbringing was very different.”

Esha also shared that growing up with her mother, Hema Malini, had a significant influence on her. She inspired her to carve out her own path in the industry. However, convincing her father was not an easy task. The actress also recalled growing up in a strict environment and said, “My grandmother was very strict. We were not allowed to wear spaghetti and short skirts and go out. We were not allowed many late nights.” She revealed going through a rebellious phase. “There was a phase where I would lie to go out on late nights. I have done all of that. It’s not like I haven’t done that and it used to be fun too.”
Esha made her acting debut with a lead role in Vinay Shukla’s Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhle, which unfortunately did not perform well at the box office. Her next two films also failed commercially. However, she later appeared in Dhoom, where she took her mother’s permission to wear a bikini on screen , and the film became a hit. In her career spanning over 9 years (2002-2011), the actress gave a total of 19 flops and no single hit. All of her hits were multi-starrer and thus after this, she quit films.
However, Esha made a comeback to films with Kill Them Young, but it failed to impress audiences and was a box office flop. Despite this, her net worth is estimated to be around Rs 50 and Rs 100 crore, according to a report by Siasat Daily.
