Meet Indian genius who made digital watch at 7, left high-paying Apple job to build Rs 9000 crore company, he is…
It is said that success comes to those who dream big and are willing to take risks to make their dreams a reality. This story of a man is surely a perfect example of that phrase. His journey is not only an example in India’s startup world but also an inspiration for new entrepreneurs. Most of us don’t even consider leaving a high-paying job at a prestigious international company, but Nirmitt Parikh took the risk and left his job at the American tech giant Apple to start his own entrepreneurial journey. At that time, many considered his decision to be ‘suicidal,’ but through his determination and hard work, he proved everyone wrong. Here’s Nirmitt’s success story.
Who is Nirmitt Parikh?
Nirmitt was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he opened his eyes in a modest family in Mumbai. At a very young age, he had a deep interest in technology. At the age of 7, he built a digital watch, and by the age of 13, he had mastered robotics programming.
Nirmitt Parikh Education Qualification
Nirmitt earned his B.Tech degree from Nirma Institute of Technology, Gujarat. Before turning 21, he had founded ‘Incone Technologies,’ a company that deals in flood management solutions. However, this venture failed and eventually shut down.
Sold His Startup to Intel
After Incone was shut down, Nirmitt set up another company named Cruxbox, which performed reasonably well. Eventually, he sold Cruxbox to Intel and assumed the important position of Director of Data Analytics within the organisation. Meanwhile, he pursued and successfully obtained an MBA degree from Stanford University. Once he completed his MBA, he found his path leading him to Apple.
Turned A Startup Into An Unicorn In Just 22 Months
Not long before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nirmitt rolled out the ‘Apna’ platform – a connector between blue-collar workers and employers. Remarkably, it took just under two years, precisely 22 months, for Apna to achieve the coveted unicorn status, a feat that sets it apart as the youngest unicorn in India. To gain firsthand insights into the blue-collar job environment, Nirmitt even worked as a factory labourer. Presently, the value of Apna tips over an impressive Rs 9,000 crore. More than 150,000 companies, including illustrious names like Unacademy, Flipkart, Zomato, and BigBasket, register and operate on this buzzing platform.
Apna, recognized across 28 cities and operates fluently in 11 diverse languages, has rose to prominence as a leading professional networking platform in the job recruitment field, boasting over 10 million app installations. This extraordinary story of Parekh is indeed a testament to how entrepreneurship holds the potential to address societal problems, creating solutions that carry significance.
