Who is Priyal Yadav?
Priyal Yadav, the current district registrar of Indore, cracked the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) examination thrice in three, improving her rank in her final attempt and finally being appointed as a deputy collector in the state.
The daughter of a farmer father and a housewife mother, 27-year-old Priyal Yadav comes from an agrarian middle-class background and was a academic prodigy since her early years, but shocking failed to pass the Class 11 examination after she was pressured to opt for the non-medical stream after passing her Class 10 exams.
“I was a class topper till Class 10. However, due to pressure from relatives, I opted for physics, chemistry and mathematics in Class 11 despite lack of interest in these subjects and failed physics,” Priyal told news agency PTI.
However, this was the “first and last failure” in her academic life, she said.
Priyal credits her parents for supporting her in her studies and never forcing her to get married despite being from a rural background where parents often aren’t as accommodative as hers.
“I hail from a rural area where girls marry young, but my parents did not pressure me to get married an gave me complete freedom to pursue my studies,” she said.
