Meet the ragpicker’s son who cracked the AIIMS exam and secured AIR…

It is always tough to crack the MBBS entrance examination in the country. Lakhs of aspirants appear each year with the desire to become doctors. Many students take coaching, but only a few manage to crack the exam and secure an MBBS seat at a prestigious medical college like AIIMS.
We will discuss the story of a ragpicker’s son, Asharam Choudhary, who cracked the AIIMS entrance test in 2018 and secured a seat at AIIMS Jodhpur. Asharam secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 707 and 141st rank in the OBC category. He also cleared the NEET examination, securing an AIR of 2763 and 803rd rank in the OBC category.
Asharam’s father picked rags from the streets for a living in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas. Asharam wanted to improve his family’s condition. He told media persons that his father did odd jobs to make ends meet. Asharam studied with full dedication and worked hard to secure admission to a medical college.

Asharam completed his schooling at a government school in Dewas. His dream is to become a neurosurgeon. Asharam was inspired by the village doctor, Durga Shankar Kumawat, who encouraged him to dream big.
Kumawat had once praised Asharam when he scored 93% in the class X examination. Due to financial distress, the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, assured him that the government would support his MBBS studies.
