Adding feathers to her hat, Pritpal Kaur, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Nagaland, has achieved a remarkable milestone by being the only Indian selected among 40 police officers under 40 years of age worldwide for the prestigious International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Award for 2024. This award program is designed to recognize 40 law enforcement professionals under the age of 40 from around the world that demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment to their profession.
Before joining the Indian Police Service (IPS), Pritpal Kaur worked as a dentist in Hyderabad. After clearing the civil services exam, she was posted in Nagaland’s Tuensang district. Driven by a desire to assist students in preparing for the UPSC exam, Pritpal began engaging with them through social media. This initiative evolved into conducting classes with the support of fellow police and civil administration officers.
Pritpal Kaur cleared the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2015. She scored 760 marks in the written examination and 146 marks in the personality test. Overall she scored 906 marks.
Pritpal Kaur has been the recipient of numerous prestigious accolades, including the International Inspiration Women Award 2023, Skoch Gold Award 2023, DGP Disc Award, Women Power India Award 2023, and the Global Women Leader Award 2024 by the World Women Leadership Congress.
According to the IACP’s profile, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, a BDS gold medalist and qualified dentist, has served in some of Nagaland’s most remote and challenging districts, such as Noklak and Longleng.
“SP Kaur has dedicated her career to strengthening communities through innovative projects such as Fighting Drugs with Education and Livelihood and Not Guns but Machines, which teaches people how to apply their skills to making machines such as electric bicycles, dryers, and other low-cost machines,” reads the IACP’s profile.
