Megha & Nawed’s Interfaith Love Story Proves That True Love Is Worth Fighting For
It all began with a simple response to a ‘Tumhe kya pasand hai’ with ‘Mujhe ghoomna pasand hai’.
What followed was a series of adventures – from climbing countless mountains hand-in-hand, and witnessing the greatest views of the Sahyadri, to enjoying the true essence of Mumbai during the monsoons, having vada pav with chai , local train rides and time spent at marine drive, of course.

However, there were bumps in this road, too. Megha Kumari was four years older than Nawed Azam and her family had already started looking for a prospective suitor. It was 2020 and COVID allowed many working professionals to work from home. Without a second thought, Megha moved in with Nawed in Goa, not knowing that heartbreak was in store for her.
None of their parents knew anything about their relationship. The religious differences had convinced them that their parents would never be on board for this union. So, Megha finally moved back to her city.

In April 2022, Megha got a call from Nawed, saying he was ready to go ahead now as his parents were also convinced. She told us, “He realised that he couldn’t live without me, and it only got harder with each passing day. So he finally opened up to his family and convinced them of their inter-religious relationship.”
But the list of challenges was endless before they could finally begin their ‘happily ever after’. The couple did not get Megha’s parents’ approval. They still haven’t come around.
“Since we belong to a small town and society that is very orthodox, my parents could not gather the strength to fight the societal rules. With a heavy heart, I decided to choose my happiness and I went ahead without them in hopes of their acceptance later in life,” shares Megha.
