MG Motor India’s Ambitious Plan: 500 EV Chargers in 500 Days
British auto giant MG Motor (Morris Garage) has set a milestone by setting up 500 Chargers in India alone. The initiative, called MG Charge, aims to make electric vehicle (EV) charging easier and more widespread. Launched in 2022, the project plans to install 1,000 charging points in 1,000 days targeting apartments, condos and societies. Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer, MG Motor India shared in a press release, “MG aspires to do more than provide cutting-edge electric vehicles. This milestone of installing 500 chargers in as many days underscores MG Charge’s vision of building a robust EV ecosystem that not only supports but drives the wider embrace of green mobility. Our belief is rooted in delivering not just chargers but convenient and accessible solutions, which enhance the entire experience of electric vehicle ownership for a sustainable and bright future.
Along with partners like Exicom Telesystems, ElectreeFi, EchargerBays, Ionage, Statiq and Highway Delite, MG has deployed 7.4kW chargers in 50 major cities, averaging one installation per day. The move underlines MG’s dedication to increasing green mobility in India.
MG’S EV PUSH:
MG Motor India doesn’t just install chargers; They are building a network. With over 15,000 charging points across the country, including public and home chargers, MG is working with partners such as Glida, TPCL, BPCL, Jio-bp, Statiq, Zeon and ChargeZone to expand the EV infrastructure.
In addition, the brand is working with Attero and Lohum for battery recycling, reuse and life extension. Recently, MG has joined hands with Niti Aayog-led Shoonha – Zero Pollution Mobility campaign for a pollution-free future. Taking a holistic approach, MG invests in talent and green manufacturing.
