Midhun Manuel Thomas, Jayasurya unite for Aadu 3; director calls it franchise’s biggest film: ‘Pappan syndicate is coming’

Filmmaker Midhun Manuel Thomas has confirmed that his widely popular Aadu (Goat) franchise is set to get a third installment, with actor Jayasurya returning as the protagonist, Shaji Pappan. One of the most beloved film franchises in Malayalam, the last film hit the screens in 2017.

Taking to social media on Saturday, Midhun shared an announcement poster of the movie, featuring himself, Jayasurya and producer-actor Vijay Babu, each holding a goat. “Finally, delivering a promise..!! The biggest of the franchise..!! Here is the announcement poster..!! Pappan syndicate is coming…  he wrote.

A slapstick comedy film that follows various groups on separate quests, whose paths intersect due to fate and their own follies, leading to chaos, Aadu (2015), the first part of the franchise, received flopped at the box office. However, following its DVD release, the film gained a cult following, prompting the makers to consider making a sequel.

In contrast to the first instalment, Aadu 2 emerged as a super hit, and since then rumours have been rife about another potential sequel to the movie. With Midhun confirming the same, expectations are sky-high for the return of Shaji Pappan and the gang.

The first film boasted a talented ensemble cast, including Jayasurya, Vinayakan, Sunny Wayne, Saiju Kurup, Indrans, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bhagath Manuel, Renji Panicker, Sandra Thomas, Chemban Vinod Jose and Vijay Babu. While many reprised their roles in Aadu 2, additional actors like Baiju, Mamukkoya, Sethu Lakshmi and Athira Patel also played significant parts.

Bankrolled by Friday Film House, both movies were written by Midhun himself, with the same technicians handling various aspects such as cinematography by Vishnu Narayanan, editing by Lijo Paul, and music composed by Shaan Rahman.
