Misbah Ul Haq Criticises PCB’s Policies, Says ‘Leave Alone Foreign Coaches I Don’t Think Even Local Coaches.’
Former Pakistan captain Misbah ul Haq expressed concern over the instability in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), attributing it to a lack of long-term planning.
Misbah, who served as head coach and chief selector from 2019 to 2021, highlighted the frequent changes in players and coaches based on short-term outcomes or shifts in board leadership.
Speaking in Karachi, where he is coaching the Hyderabad franchise in the Sindh Premier League, Misbah emphasised the need for a more organised approach to running Pakistan cricket. He observed that both foreign and local coaches are reluctant to work with the PCB due to its uncertainty.
“If you look at the policies of the board leave alone foreign coaches I don’t think even our local coaches want to work with the PCB,” PTI quoted Misbah as saying.
“Pakistan cricket should not be run in such a haphazard manner and we need to have long term plans for the team management, selectors and grooming of players. Unfortunately in Pakistan a change in the board leadership changes everything,” he added.
Misbah urged for sustained efforts in team management, selector roles, and player development for players to feel secure in the national team. He advocated adopting long-term plans, learning from successful cricketing nations, and minimising disruptions caused by changes in board leadership.
“I believe you can’t make a good team or groom quality players if proper time is not given for this process. We need to look at the systems of some other countries who are successful,” Misbah said.
