Mumbai: Police arrest 3 for looting Rs 80,000, victim lured through dating app
In a shocking case reported from Mumbai, a man was lured by a woman through a dating app and then robbed. The victim met the woman through a dating app, police said.
The police have managed to crack the case and have also arrested all 3 of the accused.
Victim beaten up, robbed of Rs 80,000: Police
According to the police, the victim is a resident of Belapur. He met one of the 3 accused persons, identified as Feroza on a dating app. The woman called him to Dharavi, near the ONGC signal. There she asked him to accompany her to a room.
Unaware and unsuspecting of what he was walking into, the man willingly followed the woman in the room. They both engaged in some intimate acts, the police said. Soon after 2 men joined the woman. They trapped the man inside the room. He was beaten up with stumps and forced to part with Rs 80,000. After robbing him, all 3 of the accused fled the scene, police said.
The victim managed to reach the Dharavi Police station, where he lodged a complaint. A team was formed under senior inspector, Raja Bidkar and the investigations started. The police soon managed to trace the accused and arrested all 3 of them. The stolen money was also recovered from their possession, said senior inspector Bidkar.
The police are now planning to question the accused further to know if they have cheated and robbed other people in a similar manner. Once the questioning is complete, they will be presented in court, said officials.
