MWC 2024: Xiaomi Unveils Maiden Electric Car. Here’s Everything You Need To Know About Its Performance
Making its grand debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi showcased its first electric vehicle, the SU7. This unveiling marks the first physical appearance of the SU7, which had been previously announced in China towards the end of the preceding year.
‘Performance Sedan’
The SU7, described as a sleek and sporty sedan, adorned in a striking blue hue, drew attention from attendees, as reported by CNET. Positioned as a “performance sedan,” it boasts four doors and operates on a fully electric drivetrain. Xiaomi proudly asserts that the SU7 is equipped with the company’s proprietary electric motors, promising an impressive acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 2.78 seconds.
Notably, the vehicle is fitted with a formidable 101kWh battery, providing an estimated range exceeding 497 miles, surpassing many of its contemporaries. Additionally, the SU7 supports fast charging, with Xiaomi claiming a recharge of 317 miles in just 15 minutes using a fast charger. Moreover, Xiaomi hints at future enhancements, indicating that the platform can potentially accommodate 150kWh batteries, which could yield a staggering range of over 700 miles, though such advancements may take years to materialise.
