NEET UG 2024: The process of NEET UG counseling is going on for admission in courses like MBBS and BDS. You must also be aware of the expensive fees of medical colleges. Meanwhile, there is news of a 10 percent increase in the fees of MBBS courses. This announcement has been made by the Karnataka government. According to the report, the fee of MBBS courses on government quota seats in private medical colleges has been increased to Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand 621. Whereas on private seats, the fee will have to be paid Rs 11 lakh 88 thousand 161. Till now the fee for government quota seats was Rs 1 lakh 28 thousand 746 and the fee for private seats was Rs nine lakh 94 thousand 906.
According to the Times of India report, the state’s Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil was initially against the fee hike. However, the private college management cited the increase in maintenance, staff salary, and other expenses. After which he agreed to increase the fees.
Private colleges were demanding a 15-20% fee hike
Private medical colleges in Karnataka had demanded a 15-20% hike in MBBS fees citing cost escalation. However, the state government agreed to a 10% hike.
Fees of government medical colleges
The state government has not made any change in the fees of MBBS course in government medical colleges. It is Rs 50,000 per year, the same as in the previous academic session.
