New twist in the recruitment of 69000 assistant teachers in UP, Supreme Court stays HC order

Hearing the 69000 assistant teachers recruitment case today, the Supreme Court has stayed the order of Allahabad High Court.

The case of recruitment of 69 thousand assistant teachers in UP has taken a new turn. The Supreme Court stayed the order of Allahabad High Court. The court asked the state government and both parties to submit written arguments. CJI Chandrachud said during the hearing that the decision of the High Court will remain suspended for the time being and the next hearing will be held on September 25. Also, the CJI directed all the concerned parties to submit written arguments.

What did the Supreme Court say?

The CJI directed the government and both the concerned parties to submit written arguments and said that the court would hold the final hearing on this matter. It will examine the legal aspects of this matter and give an order. The court needs time to study the decision of the High Court. In such a situation, the decision of the High Court will remain suspended till then.

The Supreme Court asked both the parties to submit their written arguments in a maximum of 7 pages each. The court also appointed 2 nodal advocates for this. At the same time, the UP government was also directed to file a reply on the matter.

What did the High Court order?

It is worth noting that the Allahabad High Court, in its decision, cancelling the selection lists of June 2020 and January 2022, had ordered the UP government to release a new selection list for 69 thousand teachers in three months on the basis of the assistant teacher recruitment examination held in 2019.

The High Court had also said that if a reserved category candidate achieves merit equal to the general category, then his selection should be considered in the general category only. Due to this order of the court, a large number of teachers working in UP were in danger of losing their jobs.
