New Vande Bharat Train Makes Chennai-Bengaluru Trip Quicker
The journey between Chennai and Bengaluru has been made quicker and more convenient with the introduction of the second Vande Bharat train on March 12, 2024, by Prime Minister Modi.
This train is especially beneficial for Tamil residents in Bengaluru, as it allows passengers to leave Chennai after evening tea and reach Bengaluru in time for dinner, making travel between the two cities smooth and hassle-free.
The introduction of this train marks an important development in the connectivity between the two cities. It joins the inaugural Vande Bharat service that has been operational from Chennai to Mysore via Bengaluru since November 2022. These services are part of the last 10 Vande Bharat trains unveiled by the Prime Minister, aiming to enhance travel experiences for commuters.
The second Vande Bharat train from Mysore to Chennai starts its journey at 6:00 AM, making stops including the Bangalore SMVT Railway Station, and concludes its run at Chennai Central Railway Station by 12:20 PM. The return journey commences at 5:00 PM from Chennai and reaches Mysore at 11:20 PM, after a stop at Bangalore SMVT Railway Station. This schedule ensures that travel from Chennai to Bengaluru can be completed in just 3 hours and 48 minutes, a notable improvement from the previous options.
One of the most significant updates is the train’s stop at Krishnarajapuram Railway Station in Bengaluru at 8:48 PM, catering specifically to the Tamil community residing in nearby areas such as Outer Ring Road and Whitefield. This strategic stop is a boon for IT professionals and daily commuters, reducing their travel time considerably.
As for the fare structure, the ticket price for an AC seat car coach from Chennai to Krishnarajapuram is pegged at ₹1130 per person, whereas a fare of ₹2020 is charged for the complete journey to Mysore. This pricing is slightly above that of the first Vande Bharat service, reflecting the added convenience and reduced travel time offered by the new train.
