After this, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has also issued a notification for this.
Why was the decision taken?
The commission took this decision last month by canceling the provisional candidature of probationary IAS officer Pooja Khedkar and barring her from appearing in all future examinations for fraudulently attempting the civil services examination beyond qualification. Khedkar has been accused of misusing the disability and other backward class or OBC (non-creamy layer) quota, among other charges.

The Personnel Ministry said in its notification that UPSC is allowed to do Aadhaar authentication voluntarily for verification of the identity of candidates at the time of registration on the ‘One Time Registration’ portal and at various stages of the examination/recruitment test, for which Yes/No or/and e-KYC authentication facility will be used. ”

The notification said that the Commission will have to follow all the provisions of the Aadhaar Act, 2016, the rules and regulations made under it, and the instructions issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India.
